SYLVANIA, Ohio - The Lawrence Tech softball team headed out to Sylvania, Ohio on Wednesday afternoon for another WHAC double header.The Blue Devils fell on the day falling in game 1 against Aquinas, 3-2. With a chance to stay in the tournament, LTU faced Cornerstone in the losers bracket but fell 10-0.
Game 1:
The Saints of Aquinas scored the first two runs of the game in the second inning. Sophomore
Alyssa Bloomfield hit, scoring freshman
Zoey Markey in the third inning, at an attempt to start coming back. Junior
Gloriana Su'a singled to shortstop, scoring freshman
Ashlyn Bloomfield in the sixth inning to tie up the game. Aquinas broke the tie right at the end of the game in the seventh inning to win the game. Senior
Clover Brandt pitched for the Blue Devils, allowing 6 hits and 3 runs scored for the Saints. Brandt struck out 2 Saints in 6.2 innings pitched.
Game 2:
Cornerstone came out firing from the start, scoring 2 runs in the first inning. The Golden Eagles scored 3 more runs in the fourth inning giving them the 5-0 lead. Cornerstone went on to end the game in the sixth inning, scoring 5 more runs, making the score 10-0. Freshman
Ashlyn Bloomfield had the one and only hit for LTU. Sophomore
Mikayla Timm opened up the pitching for the Blue Devils, allowing 5 hits and 5 runs scored for the Golden Eagles. Timm struck out 1 Golden Eagle in 3.1 innings pitched. Brandt stepped in for Timm, allowing 3 hits and 4 runs scored, striking out 2 Golden Eagles in 1.2 innings pitched. Freshman
Sarah Basket, allowing 1 hit and 1 run scored in 1 inning pitched.
That will conclude the Blue Devils 2024 season. The Blue Devils finished with an overall record of 23-24.
