Lawrence Tech Blue Devils Shine at Split Meets with Personal Bests and School Records

| By:
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - In an impressive display of athleticism and dedication, the Lawrence Tech University Track and Field team set new benchmarks at the Split Meet, which included events at the GVSU Mike Lints Alumni Open in Grand Rapids, MI, and the University of Michigan Invite in Ann Arbor, MI, on February 8, 2025.

The Blue Devils achieved remarkable feats with 12 personal best performances across various events. Outstanding efforts were seen by Aniya Adams with a stellar performance in the 400 meters, Mathews Collins in the 200 meters, and Brandon Murphy Jr, who excelled in both the shot put and weight throw. Not to be outdone, Caleigh Bovensiep showed versatility by setting personal bests in both the 60 hurdles and the 400 meters, demonstrating the depth and talent of the team.

The meet also saw four new school records. Aniya Adams broke the 400 meters record, Mathews Collins set a new standard in the 200 meters, Brandon Murphy established a new mark in the weight throw, and Bryce Butler rewrote the record in the shot put. These record-setting performances have not only raised the bar for future Blue Devils but also placed several athletes in prominent positions within both conference and national rankings.

Mathews Collins' time in the 200 meters catapulted him to the third rank in the conference and the 23rd position nationally, narrowly missing the national qualifying by just .01 seconds. In the middle distance, Hanna Assenmacher's mile time ranked her third all-time in the school's history.

Looking ahead, the Blue Devils are geared up for their next challenge at the WHAC Conference Championships in Fort Wayne, IN, on February 14, 2025. The team's recent performances have set high expectations for what promises to be a thrilling competition.
