LANSING, Mich. - The Lawrence Tech men's cross country team put together a strong performance in the 8000-meter race, securing a 4th-place team finish with 122 points and a total time of 2:20:58.
Silas Smith led the charge for the Blue Devils with a standout performance, finishing 2nd overall individually with a blistering pace of 5:19 per mile to clock in at 26:24.7.
Hayden Lafferty provided crucial support up front, placing 19th overall with a time of 27:29.8. Rounding out the top five scoring runners for LTU were
Christopher Locke (28:35.6, 35th overall),
Marek Unger (28:49.5, 39th overall), and
Matthew Hall (29:38.5, 53rd overall), while
Noah Blandino (29:44.9) and
Reid Weber (31:43.2) completed the top seven pack.
On the women's side, the Blue Devils earned a 7th-place team finish in the 5000-meter event, tallying a team score of 195 with a combined clock time of 1:52:30. Jamie Carr set the pace for Lawrence Tech, placing 16th overall with an impressive time of 20:23.3 (6:34 avg pace). Close behind was Olivia Cereska, who delivered a strong run of her own to place 19th overall in 20:49.2. Caleigh Bovensiep (23:17.2, 58th overall), Addison Cooke (23:54.4, 71st overall), and Gabriana Garner (24:06.6, 74th overall) scored key points to secure the team's top-five finish, while Miley Caughel (25:56.3) and Katie Rachwal (28:02.5) rounded out the lineup.
Blue Devils cross country will look ahead to their next meet at Adrian College for the Adrian College Invitational on the 25th of September.Â
