Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Jasmine attended Pickerington Central High School, where she was a four-time All-State athlete and school record holder in the 4x400 meter relay.Â
As a student at the University of Detroit Mercy (UDM), she was an 11-time All-Conference performer, a 3-time Conference Champion, and still holds the 400m hurdles record.Â
Following her undergraduate degree in psychology from UDM and her master's degree in family and human development from Arizona State University, she became head track coach at Cass Technical High School. During her time at Cass Tech, she founded the first AAU track club housed at the institution, Courageous Track Club. Coach Wilks led the track team to an MHSAA Regional Championship and a PSL City Championship in her first year at the school. As a coach, I have coached 15 All-State athletes, 9 All-Americans, and a 4x400 relay team to bronze medals in the 2022 AAU National Junior Olympics.
She then went on to coach sprints and hurdles at Concordia University Ann Arbor, where she led the sprints/hurdles program. In just one season, she led her group to three school records, 12 NCCAA national qualifying performances, and four of the highest conference finishes in the history of the program.
Currently, she resides in Redford, Michigan with her husband Brandon, son Noah, daughter Norah, and dog Zoey.Â
