It looked like the Blue Devils' first home game of the season was going to end with their first win but it was not to be. Concordia won 4-3 by breaking a 3-3 tie in the second period.

The Blue Devils took control early by scoring before the game was two minutes old. Freshman forward Justin Ritchey scored an unassisted goal at 1:52. It would be Ritchey's first of two unassisted goals in the game and the team's first goal in three games.

"We have goals!" said a very happy Ritchey. "We as a team finally broke a three game drought of not having any goals."

The Blue Devils' third goal was a rebound off the Concordia goalie by sophomore midfielder Danny Reyes. All three Blue Devil goals came in the first period.

"I believe that we played well as a team and controlled a large portion of the game. We came out with the intensity that we have been looking for all season and scored an early goal because of it," said freshman defender Nick Armour. "Defensively we had unlucky breaks and Concordia capitalized on them."

The Blue Devils had a total of 22 shots on goal, while Concordia recorded seven shots on goal. Unfortunately, the Concordia goalkeeper made a save on one of the Blue Devil shots in the second period that helped to keep the Devils out of the win column.

"I think today we proved we can play, but there are still many improvements to be made. It just comes down to how quickly we improve. By looking at our progress through this season we are improving faster than anyone would have guessed," Ritchey.

Blue Devils' head coach Will Dyer said he is proud of how far his players have come along this season and how much they have learned about their sport.

"We learned that we can score, that our game is finesse and we are coming together as a unit," said Coach Dyer. "It's a tough loss, but these boys are out there giving everything in practice, in games, in the classroom and all. We are a very young team with 10 freshmen who are capable of so much."
