DETROIT, Mich. - A second half goal by Claire Huddas (JR/Canton, MI) forced the Lawrence Tech women's soccer team into overtime and an eventual 1-1 draw against Marygrove College (Mich.) on Oct. 1. This marks the fourth overtime game and second tie for the Blue Devils this season.

In the first half, Lawrence Tech (5-4-2, 0-1-1 WHAC) failed to find the back of the net on several opportunities, with the Mustangs Bianca Barron making two great saves to hold LTU scoreless.

Marygrove (1-8-1, 0-1-1 WHAC) struck first, scoring in the 32nd minute after Cheyenne York collected a long lead pass, hitting the top crossbar and bouncing passed the goal line.

Five minutes into the second half, the Blue Devils found the equalizer as Huddas placed a perfect corner kick into the net for her fourth goal of the season.

Heather Derstine (SO/Midland, MI) made four critical saves late in the second half including two shots by York that kept the game 1-1 and take it to overtime.

In the first overtime, the Blue Devils failed to notch a shot on frame, but kept it tied. The second overtime was much the same as neither team could mount a consistent attack. The Blue Devils Alexandra Bryden (JR/Canton, MI) had the last opportunity but Barron again came up big.

Huddas finished with a team high five shots, two on net, while notching the lone goal for Lawrence Tech. Bryden and Britain both had two shots on goal, while Derstine made five saves in the game.

York led all Mustangs with five shots on net. Barron collected eight saves for Marygrove.

Lawrence Tech is back on the pitch Saturday, Oct. 4 at 2pm as they face No. 11 University of Northwestern Ohio at LTU Athletic Field.
