SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - Two first-half goals propels the Lawrence Tech men's soccer team past Cornerstone University (Mich.), 2-0 on Oct. 15. The Blue Devils have now won two of its last three games for an overall Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) record of 2-3 - placing them 6th in the current standings.

Tyler Jugon (SO/Clawson, MI) put LTU on the board early, sending a blast from 40-yards out that sailed over the keeper's head in the 9th minute. Just over 20 minutes later, Justin Pilarski (JR/Royal Oak, MI) would score a similar goal after collecting a loose ball and shooting over a diving goalie from well beyond the box. Pilarski's first goal of the season gave Lawrence Tech a 2-0 lead at halftime.

After failing to put a shot on net in the first half, Cornerstone (3-9-1, 1-4-1 WHAC) came out aggressive in the final 45 minutes, taking seven shots - four on frame. However, LTU goalkeeper Joey Knoff (SO/Midland, MI) made four saves to keep the Golden Eagles off the scoreboard and preserve his first shutout of the season.

Knoff moves to third in the WHAC for total saves (44) and fourth in save percentage with .746.

The Blue Devils finished with seven shots - four on net, including three off the foot of Jugon. Zack Whatcott and Pablo Ripodas (FR/Navarra, Spain) were each credited with a shot on goal.

It's a short turn-around for LTU as they battle Madonna University (Mich.) (9-4, 4-2 WHAC) on Oct. 17 in Livonia, Mich. Game time is set for 4pm.
