MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - The Lawrence Tech women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss at Mount Vernon Nazarene University (Ohio) on Sept. 13 in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
The loss drops Lawrence Tech to .500 on the season as they have played four of the first six games on the road this season. The Blue Devils return home on Monday, Sept. 15 for a return clash with Rochester College (Mich.) at LTU Athletic Field at 4pm.
Lawrence Tech (3-3) had three shots in the first half as Heather Derstine (SO/Midland, MI) made five saves to keep the game scoreless heading into the break. Claire Huddas (JR/Canton, MI) had the lone shot on goal for the Blue Devils.
In the second half, Lawrence Tech continued to struggle on the offensive end as their defense kept the game close. Mount Vernon had seven shots - one on net - in the first 15 minutes, its eighth shot was the first goal of the game. Megan Griffith was able to get one past Derstine on a nice pass from Tiffany Wright to take a 1-0 lead in the 75th minute.
The Blue Devils had one more chance on a second shot by Huddas that forced the Cougars Eleni Miller to come up with a big save in the 81st minute.
