SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Lawrence Tech women's soccer team used two second half goals to defeat Cleary University (Mich.) 2-0 on Sept. 20 at the LTU Athletic Field.

Lawrence Tech (4-3-1) outshot the Cougars eight to three in the first half as the Blue Devils maintained their offensive attack. LTU keeper Heather Derstine (SO/Midland, MI) was tested only once in the first 45 minutes of action.

In the second half, the Blue Devils Lisa Zaffina (JR/Waterford, MI) had two golden opportunities to break the scoreless tie - one in the 60th minute and a header that went off the crossbar in the 63rd minute. However, seven minutes later, Lawrence Tech finally got on the scoreboard after Hannah Huff (JR/Waterford, MI) sent a blast from 20 yards out pass Paige Colosimo to take a 1-0 lead.

Sarah Britain (SO/Kalamazoo, MI) added an insurance goal - her third goal of the season in the 84th minute to give Lawrence Tech a 2-0 lead.

LTU finished the game with 26 shots - 13 on goal. Zaffina tallied three shots on net, while Alexandra Bryden (JR/Canton, MI) added two. Derstine made two saves on two shots for her second shutout victory of the season.

Lawrence Tech returns to the pitch on Sept. 24 as they face Huntington University (Ind.) at 4pm. LTU Athletics will be streaming the game live at LTUAthletics.com.
