Match Preview: LTU starts WHAC play against defending champions

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Lawrence Tech women's soccer team hosts 8th-ranked Davenport University (Mich.) on Saturday, Sept. 27 beginning at 12:30pm.

Lawrence Tech (5-3-1) opens Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play against the defending conference champion, Davenport. The Blue Devils come into the match after closing out non-conference action with two-straight wins, including a 1-0 overtime win against Huntington University (Ind.) on Sept. 24.

Claire Huddas scored the lone goal for Lawrence Tech, joining Nicole Propst and Sarah Britain with three goals on the season. Hannah Huff has two goals and two assists through nine games for LTU.

The Blue Devils are 0-2 against the Panthers, giving up six goals while failing to find the net in the two games.

Davenport (6-1-1) won its first six games of the season before dropping a 4-0 decision to No.4 Cumberland University (Tenn.) and playing to a scoreless draw against then No.3 Lindsey Wilson College (Ky.).

The Panthers open up conference play ranked fifth in the NAIA in total shutouts with five and 26th in total goals with 23. Natalie McHale ranks eighth in the NAIA in game winning goals (3), while leading the team with five goals through eight games. Tam Grzybowski and Shameeka Fishley rank 18th in total assists with five.
