Game Preview: Women' Soccer looks to rebound against Goshen

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Lawrence Tech women's soccer team returns to the pitch on Sept. 3 at 5 pm for a non-conference contest against Goshen College (Ind.) at the LTU Athletic Field.

Lawrence Tech (2-1) faced Saint Francis (Ind.) on Aug. 27 and fell 5-1 in the team's home opener. Claire Huddas (JR/Canton, MI) scored her second goal of the season, while Heather Derstine (SO/Midland, MI) made three saves on eight shots on goal.

Nicole Propst (SO/Warren, MI) leads the Blue Devils with three goals while Huddas has two and an assist. Derstine has made 16 saves in three games while allowing seven goals.

Lawrence Tech's Alex Eddington (JR/Saline, MI) and Propst both rank 15th in the NAIA in total game winning goals with one apiece. Propst ranks 19th in total goals with three.

Goshen (1-2) opened its season with a 1-0 win over Purdue University Calumet (Ind.) on Wednesday, Aug. 27. The Maple Leafs stayed on the road as they played in the Concordia University Tournament in Ann Arbor, Mich., where they faced Concordia University (Mich.) and Rochester College (Mich.). Goshen lost to Concordia 2-0 and fell to Rochester 1-0 in the two-day tournament.

The Maple Leafs Melanie Drinkwater has a goal and eight shots through the team's first three matches. Juliana de Silva has recorded 12 shots - six on goal - in her three appearances this season. In net, Natalie Thorne has started all three games, allowing three goals while making 11 saves this season.
