SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -The Lawrence Tech volleyball returns to the court on Wednesday, Sept. 3 for a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match-up with Concordia University - Ann Arbor at 7 pm inside the Don Ridler Field House.
Lawrence Tech (1-3) is coming back after having 11 days off in-between the Early Bird Tournament and the open of conference play. The Blue Devils enter the conference contest on a three game losing streak after sweeping Spring Arbor University (Mich.) 3-0 on Aug. 22.
Kasey Clark (SR/Sacramento, CA) leads all Blue Devils with 67 kills followed by Mary Armstrong (JR/Lakeland, MI) who has recorded 34 kills through 14 sets played. Josie Queary (SO/Midland, MI) has a team high 132 assists while Darby Johnson (JR/West Bloomfield, MI) has 51 digs through four matches.
Lawrence Tech ranks 18th in the NAIA in blocks per game with 2.36 while Clark ranks fourth in kills per game with 4.79. Queary ranks 37th in assists per game with 9.43.
The Blue Devils and Concordia have met twice since 2012 and have a 1-1 all-time record.
Concordia (5-2) began the season at the home with the Concordia University Kick-Off Tournament. The Cardinals defeated Grace Bible College (Mich.) 3-0 to open the tournament on Aug. 22 followed by a 3-0 loss to Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
The following day, Concordia beat Calumet College of St. Joseph 3-0 and Rochester College (Mich.) 3-2. From there, the Cardinals faced Finlandia University (Mich.), winning 3-0 followed by a split against Concordia - Wisc. and Concordia - Illinois.
Autumn VanKirk leads the Cardinals with 62 kills and a .355 hitting percentage. Melissa Schoenow, Courtney Pietruszka and Erica den Boer all have over 30 kills for Concordia on the season. Claire Truskowski has recorded 194 assists with seven service aces. Julia Szuba leads the team with 81 digs.
