GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological University (LTU) men's soccer team lost 1-0 at Cornerstone University (Mich.) on Wednesday night at CU Soccer Stadium in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Lawrence Tech (6-6-1, 2-3-1 WHAC) was led by Matt Gibiec (SO/Saint Joseph, MI) with four shots, followed by Zack Whatcott (SR/Lapeer, MI) with three shots - two on goal. Joey Knoff (SR/Midland, MI) made two spectacular saves in the final 10 minutes to keep the game deadlocked at 0-0.
Cornerstone (6-6-1, 4-1-1 WHAC) was able to take advantage of an Knoff yellow card in the 88th minute that awarded the Golden Eagles a penalty kick. Diego Bobadilla took the penalty and was able to beat Knoff to give Cornerstone a 1-0 lead. The Blue Devils were unable to equalize as time ran out.
Lawrence Tech is back on the pitch Friday, October 16 when they host Madonna University (Mich.) at 2 p.m. at the LTU Athletic Field in Southfield, Mich.
