SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological University (LTU) women's volleyball team swept University of Michigan- Dearborn 3-0 (26-24, 25-16, 25-22) on Wednesday night at Don Ridler Field House in Southfield, Mich.
Lawrence Tech (8-21, 5-11 WHAC) opened the first set with a 15-10 lead, but allowed Michigan - Dearborn to come back and tie the set at 22-22. LTU was able to close the game, 26-24, with a service ace from Tori Pellerito (FR/Macomb, Mich.).
In the second set, it was all Blue Devils as they stormed out to a 15-5 lead. LTU built off that lead and eventually finished the set with two service aces from Taryn Rogers (JR/Milford, MI) for a 25-16 set win and a 2-0 match lead.
Michigan - Dearborn took the early lead in the third set, as they built a 6-2 lead, but the Blue Devils battled back to take the lead 12-11. The set would go back-and-forth, with LTU taking a slim 23-20 lead. Lawrence Tech finished the match with a Leah Hall (FR/Kingsley, Mich.) service ace and a 25-22 win.
Mary Armstrong (SR/Commerce Twp, MI) finished the match with 11 kills, while Josie Queary (JR/Midland, MI) added 15 assists and two digs. Hall finished with five assists, while Macee Logerstedt (JR/Romulus, MI) added four digs in the win.
Lawrence Tech travels to William Woods University (Mo.) for a two-day tour starting at 7 p.m. on October 23 as they face William Woods and No. 13-ranked Evangel University.
