GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological University (LTU) women's soccer team fell 5-0 to Cornerstone University (Mich.) on Saturday afternoon in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Lawrence Tech (4-11, 1-7 WHAC) were led by goalkeeper Heather Derstine (JR/Midland, MI) who made 11 saves on 16 shots on goal.
Cornerstone scored three first half goals opening with Tori Johns sneaking her shot through the defense to make it 1-0. Alexys Riksen and Morgan Haddad scored the next two goals to give the Golden Eagles a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.
In the second half, it was all Cornerstone as they added two more goals, both scored by Lexie Brisson-Fast, to take a 5-0 lead.
Lawrence Tech finished the game with four shots with two on net. Hope Sheffield (FR/Livonia, Mich.) and Lisa Zaffina (SR/Waterford, MI) had the two shots on goal for the Blue Devils with Kristina Torres (SO/Gibraltar, MI) having the other shot.
LTU is back on the pitch Wednesday, October 28 at 3 p.m. when they welcome Indiana Tech to the LTU Athletic Field for the final home game of the season.
