Blue Devils ease past Michigan-Dearborn 3-0 on Senior Day

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological University (LTU) men's soccer team defeated University of Michigan - Dearborn 3-0 on Senior Day at LTU Athletic Field in Southfield, Mich.

Lawrence Tech (9-7-1, 5-4-1 WHAC) secured its first winning season following the 3-0 win over Michigan-Dearborn. LTU outshot the Wolverines 19-6, including 10-5 in shots on goal. Joey Knoff (SR/Midland, MI) made five saves in the final home game of his career.

Matt Gibiec (SO/Saint Joseph, MI) opened the scoring in the 16th minute to give the Blue Devils a 1-0 lead. Zack Whatcott (SR/Lapeer, MI) made it 2-0 after scoring off a Derek Butcher (JR/DeWitt, MI) corner kick.

In the second half, Tyler Winningham (JR/Canton, MI) made it 3-0 when he scored an unassisted goal.

Lawrence Tech recognized its seven seniors before the game, as Knoff along with Whatcott, Nick Karlis (SR/Romeo, MI), Bart Kowalewski (SR/Washington Twp.), Brandon Busuttil (SR/Traverse City, MI), Justin Pilarski (SR/Royal Oak, MI), and Josh Bremer.

LTU is back on the pitch Saturday, October 31 when they travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. to face No. 3-ranked Davenport University (Mich.) at 7 p.m.
