LTU defeats Marygrove, 5-1 on Saturday

DETROIT, Mich. -- The Lawrence Technological University (LTU) women's soccer team won 5-1 over Marygrove College (Mich.) on Saturday afternoon in Detroit, Mich.

Lawrence Tech (4-5, 1-1 WHAC) took an early 1-0 lead following a Claire Huddas (SR/Canton, MI) (Lisa Zaffina (SR/Waterford, MI) assist) goal in the 14th minute, but Brandy Lynch equalized two minutes later beating the goalkeeper on the wide side to tie at 1-1.

Alexandra Bryden (SR/Canton, MI) made it 2-1 on a shot that hit the upper corner of the goal from about 30 yards out.

In the second half, Huddas wasted no time as she scored in the 52nd minute to give LTU a 3-1 lead. Seven minutes later, Bryden hits a perfect cross that Zaffina puts into the net for a 4-1 lead.

Caitlin Orgera (SO/Andover, KS) made it 5-1 as Marygrove turned in over inside their own 25 yard line.

Zaffina led the way with eight shots - five on goal - while Huddas added two goals on three shots. Bryden finished the game with a goal on three shots.

Megan Dixon (JR/Andover, MN) played the second half making three saves, while Heather Derstine (JR/Midland, MI) gave up the lone Mustangs goal on five shots.
