ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological University (LTU) women's volleyball team opened the 2015 season with a pair of losses at the Concordia University - Ann Arbor (CUAA) Early Bird Tournament.
Lawrence Tech (0-2, 0-0 WHAC) dropped game one of pool play to Goshen College (Ind.) (3-2) and game two to Siena Heights University (Mich.) (3-0). The Blue Devils face host CUAA at 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 22nd in the first round of the tournament.
Lawrence Tech and Goshen (2-1) played an opening match five setter with LTU winning sets two and four to force a fifth and deciding set. However, Goshen was able to hold on for the win - 25-22,22-25,25-22,23-25,15-8 - in the first game of pool play this afternoon.
In the second match, the Blue Devils fell to Siena Heights (1-1) in straight sets, 16-25, 15-25, 12-25 to give LTU the three seed in pool B.
CUAA (2-0) won both of its games on day one to earn one of two top seeds on day two of the tournament. The Cardinals defeated Spring Arbor University (Mich.) 3-1 and Rochester College (Mich.) 3-1.
