LTU Falls to Indiana Wesleyan 3-0 in Home Opener

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological University (LTU) women's soccer team lost 3-0 to Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) in the 2015 home opener at LTU Athletic Field on Tuesday evening.

Lawrence Tech (1-1) had two early chances as Nicole Propst had two shots on goal, but Wildcats goalkeeper Alex Seabeck was up to the challenge, keeping it even at 0-0. The Blue Devils fell behind in the 22nd minute as Lizzie Rittenhouse scored the first of her two goals to give IWU a 1-0 lead. Three minutes later, Rittenhouse notched her second of the game to make it 2-0.

Heather Derstine made one save in the first half, while Indiana Wesleyan's goalkeeper Alex Seabeck made three saves on three shots to keep IWU up two goals.

Indiana Wesleyan (2-0) capitalized for the third time this game as Nicole Biggs made a nice pass to Susan Anthony to give IWU a 3-0 lead with 21 minutes left to play. It was Anthony's first goal of the season.

Lisa Zaffina had a good look at goal in the 75th minute, but Seabeck was able to come up with the save and secure a 3-0 shutout over the Blue Devils.

Nicole Propst and Hannah Huff both finished the game with two shots on goal, while Derstine made five saves on eight shots.

Lawrence Tech returns to the pitch on September 11 when they travel to Goshen, Ind., for two games in two days. The Blue Devils face Goshen College (Ind.) at 7 p.m. on September 11 and face University of Saint Francis (Ind.) on September 12 at 12 p.m.
