SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- The Lawrence Technological University (LTU) men's soccer team posted its third straight win as they defeated Cleary University 5-0 at Ultimate Arena in Pontiac, Mich.

Lawrence Tech (4-3) finished the non-conference schedule outscoring its last three opponents 18-5 including tonight's 5-0 shutout win. In the game, the Blue Devils outshot the Cougars 11-5, including 9-1 in shots on goal.

"Cleary came right at us and was a very good test for our last non-conference game," LTU Head Coach Will Dyer said. "They played and pushed us hard the whole game, we knew their coaching staff would have them ready."

Freshman Kevin Wright (FR/Linden, Mich.) got the scoring started as he took a gorgeous header from Santiago Amigo (FR/Madrid, Spain) and buried it in the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. Wright has now scored in three straight games.

The Blue Devils added four more goals in the second half, with Justin Pilarski (SR/Royal Oak, MI) giving LTU a 2-0 lead in the 54th minute. Less than 10 minutes later Jon Rice (JR/Novi, MI), who entered the game as a sub in the 55th minute, made it 3-0. Five minutes later, Rice notched his second of the game to make it 4-0.

Alek Nestorovski (FR/Shelby Twp., Mich.) added one more goal, a bending shot from about 35 yards out that snuck into the upper left-hand corner of the net to make it 5-0.

Cleary was never able to break the LTU defense, as Joey Knoff (JR/Midland, MI) saw one shot, making one save in 90 minutes of action.

?"We still have work to do on both sides of the pitch, especially in transition and our supporting shape," Dyer explained. "We begin conference play vs. Marygrove and they are coming off a huge win over SVSU (NCAA Division II program) and Taylor. The Mustangs have a great coaching staff, it's always a tough program to play as they have talented players. Last two years they've beaten us 3-1."

Lawrence Tech is back on the field, Saturday, September 26 at 3 p.m. as they host Marygrove College at LTU Athletic Field.
