SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University men's soccer team fell 2-1 to No. 5-ranked University of Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday afternoon in the final regular season home game.

Lawrence Tech (9-5-2, 4-4-2 WHAC) held the Racers to a scoreless first half as the Blue Devils finished the half with three shots while UNOH recorded seven shots. Max Jewett (FR/Sterling Heights, Mich.) made one save in the first half, while the Racers made two.

Northwestern Ohio (13-1-3, 9-0-1 WHAC) opened the second half with a goal five minutes in, taking a 1-0 lead thanks to Carlos Monterrey. Monterrey took a pass from Nelson De La Pava and sailed it past a lunging Jewett for the score. The Racers took advantage of defensive miscue as Monterrey lead Jose Pizzaro down the near side and shot it past Jewett for the 2-0 lead.

Lawrence Tech responded in the 68th minute on an unassisted goal from reigning WHAC offensive player of the week Santiago Amigo (SO/Madrid, Spain). He now has at least one goal in his last three games played.

The Blue Devils had their chances in the final 22 minutes, but the UNOH defense was up to the task as they held off the LTU upset 2-1.

Lawrence Tech wraps up the regular season Saturday, October 29 at Aquinas (Mich.) College at 3:30 p.m.
