SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's soccer team was defeated Davenport (Mich.) University 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at LTU Athletic Field. It was the Blue Devils first loss in WHAC play.
Lawrence Tech (9-2, 4-1 WHAC) were limited to just two shots compared to Davenport's 27. The Panthers took advantage of the shot discrepancy in the 30th minute to give DU a 1-0 lead. That score stood until the 71st minute when Roheema Bennet made it 2-0 on an unassisted goal.
Davenport (11-0-1, 4-0 WHAC) scored the last goal in the 81st minute when Allison Luurtsema put the Alice Linsell corner into the back of the net to secure the 3-0 win.
Tia Lamie (FR/Portage, Mich.) and Caitlin Orgera (JR/Andover, KS) each had a shot while Heather Derstine (SR/Midland, MI) made 11 saves in net for the Blue Devils. For the Panthers, Regan Troff made one save while Shameeka Fishley finished the game with five shots and one goal.
LTU is back on the pitch October 12 at Madonna (Mich.) University. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. in Livonia, Mich.
