SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University men's soccer team fell to Cornerstone (Mich.) University on Homecoming, 2-1 on an overtime penalty kick in the 95th minute at LTU Athletic Field in Southfield, Mich.

Lawrence Tech (5-2, 0-1 WHAC) started overtime with a few opportunities, but it was Cornerstone that capitalized off a penalty kick following a handball in the box by Lawrence Tech. The handball equals an automatic red card for the player and a penalty kick for the Golden Eagles. Craig Martin (SO/Motherwell, North Lanarkshire,) saved the penalty, but Kevin Nimmo took his rebound and put in the back of the net for the game-winner.

Cornerstone (5-3, 1-0 WHAC) took a 1-0 lead following a goal in the third minute. Kevin Doornbos took a pass from his brother Kyle Doornbos and nailed it past Martin for the early lead. The Blue Devils tied the match at 1-1 in the 32nd minute following a rocket from Santiago Amigo (SO/Madrid, Spain) from 30 yards out.

Martin finished the game with five saves on seven shots. Amigo finished with a game-tying goal on one shot.

The Blue Devils return to the pitch on Wednesday, Sept. 28 when they travel down to Detroit, Mich., to face Marygrove (Mich.) College. Opening kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
