LIVONIA, Mich. -- The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's soccer team fell at Madonna (Mich.) University on Wednesday afternoon in Livonia, Mich.
Lawrence Tech (4-7-1, 1-3-1) started Rebecca Almandoz (FR/Palmiste, San Fernando, Trinid) in goal and she made four saves on seven shots for the Blue Devils. Allexus Barnes (FR/Middleville, MI) led the team with two shots while Sarah Trapp (JR/Plymouth, Mich.), Alayne Nyboer (SO/Grandville, Mich.), and Tia Lamie (SO/Portage, Mich.) each finished the game with a shot.
Madonna (9-3-1, 4-2-0) opened the scoring as Nicolette Vultaggio chipped a shot over Almandoz to five the Crusaders a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute. The Blue Devils held Madonna scoreless the rest of the first half, but were unable to break through their defense to equalize.
In the second half, Vultaggio made it 2-0 for Madonna after receiving the ball in the middle of the 18-yard box to give MU a 2-0 lead in the 66th minute. Two minutes later, the Crusaders added a thrid goal, this one from Marissa Parisek in the 68th minute.
Lawrence Tech returns to the pitch on Friday, October 13 when they face UM-Dearborn at LTU Athletic Field for the annual Pink Out Game. Opening kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
