Blue Devils Defeats Concordia-AA 2-1 to Surpass Single Season Wins Record

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University men's soccer team traveled to Ann Arbor, Mich. for a big 2-1 win against the Concordia University- Ann Arbor. This win pushes them to a conference record of 7-0-1 and an over all record of 11-2-2. This is the most wins in program history with three games remaining in the regular season.

Lawrence Tech's (11-2-2, 7-0-1) Michael Avila scored the first goal of the game from a corner kick by Nico Rodriguez-Bermejo (SO/Madrid, Spain) in the seventh minute giving LTU the 1-0 lead. Max Jewett (SO/Sterling Heights, Mich.) was well protected by his defense, having to make zero saves in the half.

After three attempts on goal, the Cardinal's Anthony Tucker scored in the 27th minute tying the game at 1-1. LTU's defensive players played a major role in the success of the team today, with four blocks and a deflection of a penalty kick from Concordia.

Finally, in the beginning of the second half, Alvaro Garcia (SO/Mallorca, Spain), a sophomore from Mallorca, Spain, scored the winning goal from an assist from senior Mateusz Gibiec (SR/Goleszow, Poland) in the 50th minute of the game. Five other Blue Devils tried their luck at scoring this half, but Condordia's goalie Marino Moracinni protected his goal with a total of nine saves.

Jewett finished the match with zero saves while allowing one goal. Rodriguez-Bermejo and Gibiec paced the Blue Devils with five shots each while

The Blue Devils set to travel to Sylvania, Ohio as they take on Lourdes University (4-7-1; 2-5) on Saturday at 2 p.m.
