Lawrence Tech Falls to Lourdes 2-1 in Overtime

SYLVANIA, Ohio -- The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's soccer team fell to Lourdes (Ohio) University 2-1 in overtime on Friday afternoon in Sylvania, Ohio.

Lawrence Tech (6-8-1, 3-4-1) opened the scoring in the 58th minute as Alayne Nyboer (SO/Grandville, Mich.) shot a rocket from 40 yards out to give LTU a 1-0 lead. Lourdes came back to tie the game in the final 10 minutes as Tori Koontz scored in the 83rd minute to make it 1-1. The game stayed deadlocked at one for the final eight minutes and in the 96th minute Lourdes' Jenna Penz scored off a deflection to win the match 2-1.

Rebecca Almandoz (FR/Palmiste, San Fernando, Trinid) made eight saves while Tia Lamie (SO/Portage, Mich.) recorded two shots on goal. Nyboer scored on her lone shot with Ashley Sherry (FR/Savage, Minn.) having the only other shot for the Blue Devils.

Lawrence Tech is back on the pitch Wednesday, October 5 when they host No. 3-ranked University of Northwestern Ohio. Opening kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
