Lawrence Tech Defeats Aquinas 1-0 to Earn WHAC Tournament Berth on Senior Day

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's soccer team defeated Aquinas (Mich.) College 1-0 on Senior Day at the LTU Athletic Field to earn the eighth-seed in the WHAC Tournament. The Blue Devils will travel to top-seed and No. 4-ranked University of Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 3 p.m.

Lawrence Tech (7-9-1, 4-5-1) played Aquinas to a scoreless draw after 45 minutes of play. The Blue Devils' senior goalkeeper, Megan Dixon (SR/Andover, Minn.), made five saves in the first half.

In the second half, Lawrence Tech's Alayne Nyboer (SO/Grandville, Mich.) gave the Blue Devils a 1-0 lead in the 53rd minute. It was all LTU needed as the senior goalkeeper shined on senior making five saves in the second half to secure the 1-0 win and closes her home career with a clean sheet.

Nyboer finished the game with a goal on three shots while Tia Lamie (SO/Portage, Mich.) added four shots - two on goal in the win. Madilyn Donaghy (JR/Auburn Hills, Mich. ) recorded an assist on the Nyboer goal.

Lawrence Tech honored three seniors - Dixon, Danae Dicicco (SR/Grosse Pointe, Mich.), and Caitlyn Orgera - before the game.
