Lawrence Tech Falls to Aquinas 2-1 on Senior Day; Face Concordia in WHAC Tournament Next Saturday

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University men's soccer team lost to Aquinas (Mich.) College 2-1 on Senior Day at LTU Athletic Field on Saturday afternoon in Southfield, Mich.

Lawrence Tech (12-4-2, 8-2-1) fell behind 1-0 34 seconds into the second half on Saturday, but Chris Serwatka (JR/Troy, Mich.) tied it up 14 seconds later on a pass from Nico Rodriguez-Bermejo (SO/Madrid, Spain). The Blue Devils controlled play most of the day, but it was Aquinas' Jacob Bedi who broke the 1-1 tie in the 70th minute for the 2-1 win.

The Blue Devils outshot the Saints 18-10 with Aquinas' goalie making nine saves while Max Jewett (SO/Sterling Heights, Mich.) had just four shots on goal with two saves.

Lawrence Tech honored eight seniors before the game - Mateusz Gibiec (SR/Goleszow, Poland), Pablo Ripodas (SR/Navarra, Spain), Skyler Russ (SR/Rochester Hills, MI), Nick VanDerKamp (SR/Kailua, Hawaii), Austin Sanders (SR/Traverse City, MI), Mateus Meira (SR/Rio de Janiero, Brazil), Grady Beerck (SR/Cincinnati, Ohio), and Erik Ver Hoef (SR/Alto, MI).

The loss made Lawrence Tech the third-seed in the WHAC Tournament that starts on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. LTU hosts the sixth-seed Concordia (Mich.) University - Ann Arbor at LTU Athletic Field next Saturday.
