Blue Devils Hold on for 3-2 Double Overtime Win at Indiana Tech

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University men's soccer team defeated Indiana Tech 3-2 in double-overtime in Fort Wayne, Ind. It is the program's first win in Fort Wayne and now move to 3-0-1 in the WHAC and sit atop the standings.

Lawrence Tech (7-2-2, 3-0-1) opened the scoring in the 15th minute as Juan Jaramillo (FR/Windsor, Ontario) passed to Alvaro Garcia (SO/Mallorca, Spain) who got his boot on it for a 1-0 lead. The Blue Devils held on for a 1-0 lead at halftime as Max Jewett (SO/Sterling Heights, Mich.) didn't have a shot on goal.

Indiana Tech (7-4-0, 3-1-0) tied the match at 1-1 when Brennan Cochran's header off Ruben Leonardo's corner in the 57th minute. The Blue Devils responded three minutes later when Chris Serwatka (JR/Troy, Mich.) took and endline pass from Nico Rbp (SO/Madrid, Spain) past the goalkeeper for a 2-1 lead.

Indiana Tech's Cochran scored his second of the match two minutes later to tie it back up at 2-2 and force overtime.

In the first overtime, Indiana Tech outshot Lawrence Tech 2-0, but in the second overtime it was LTU with the 2-0 shot advantage including the game-winning goal in the 108th minute by Adrian Miling (FR/Las Rozas, Madrid, Spain) on a cross from Serwatka.

Lawrence Tech outshot the Warriors 17-6 including 9-3 on shots on goal. Garcia led the Blue Devils with five shots while Serwatka and Nico finished with four shots each. Jewett made one save on three shots.

Lawrence Tech is back in action on Saturday, October 7 when they travel to Pontiac, Mich. for a conference matchup with Rochester (Mich.) College at Ultimate Soccer. Opening kickoff is set for 12 p.m.
