Blue Devils Fall in WHAC Championship Game 2-0 to Northwestern Ohio

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University men's soccer team hosted their first ever WHAC Tournament Championship game this Saturday. All though history was made, the Blue Devils lost 2-0 to University of Northwestern Ohio.

It was a battle until the end with University of Northwestern Ohio able to capitalize late in the game with two goals. Max Jewett (SO/Sterling Heights, Mich.) kept his goal well protected with four saves out of six shots on goal. LTU's defense was right in there with Jewett helping block an extra two shots.

Although the Blue Devils were defeated, they still fought to put the ball in the back of the net, with six shots on goal and 10 shots overall. Nico Rodriguez-Bermejo (SO/Madrid, Spain) led the team with most shots, followed by Chris Serwatka (JR/Troy, Mich.). Other Blue Devils who also had their chance were Michael Avila (SO/Toronto, ONT, Canada) Alvaro Alaman (SO/Madrid, Spain), Alvaro Garcia (SO/Mallorca, Spain), Bryce Nicholson (FR/Jenison, MI), and finally Santiago Amigo (JR/Madrid, Spain). Seven yellow cards were given this game with three to Northwestern Ohio and four to Lawrence Tech.

This is the last game for the Blue Devils, rounding out their overall record to 14-5-2 and 8-2-1 in the WHAC. Lawrence Tech made alot of history this season with most wins in a season (14), hosting their first postseason game, hosting their first conference championship game, and taking third place in the WHAC - their best finish in program history.
