MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University men's soccer team fell 1-0 at [RV] Bethel (Ind.) College on Saturday afternoon in Mishawaka, Ind.
Lawrence Tech (4-2-1) was outshot in the first half 7-3 with Max Jewett (SO/Sterling Heights, Mich.) keeping them in the game with five saves, allowing a late goal in the 45th minute to give Bethel a 1-0 lead. The Blue Devils' Alvaro Garcia (SO/Mallorca, Spain) had a chance in the 52nd minute, but Philp Keller made the save to preserve their 1-0 lead.
The Blue Devils held the man-advantage for the final 25 minutes of the match. Bethel picked up a red card in the 66th minute, but they were able to hold off LTU for the win. Jewett made two saves over that period while the Blue Devils finished final 25 minutes with one shot on goal.
Mateusz Gibiec (SR/Goleszow, Poland) led the way for Lawrence Tech with four shots while Jewett finished the game with six saves.
Lawrence Tech now turns to conference play, opening up in Grand Rapids, Mich. on Saturday, Sept. 23. Opening kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
