ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's volleyball dropped both matched at the Siena Heights Tournament in Adrian, Mich. The Blue Devils were unable to complete the comeback in the first match with Siena Heights, falling 3-2 after trailing 2-0. In the second match, Lawrence Tech lost 3-2, falling in the final set 22-20.

Lawrence Tech (5-4) dropped the opening two sets to Siena Heights before mounting a two set comeback to tie it after a 25-23 fourth set win. In the fifth and deciding set, LTU fell 17-15.

Briana Reum and Varvara Gromakova each had 19 kills while Kristi Doherty had a career high 56 assists. Zakia Hunt added seven block assists and 13 kills with a .545 hitting percentage.

In the second match of the day, it was another five set loss with a thrilling 22-20 fifth set. The Blue Devils went up in the match after taking the first set 25-15. Lindenwood-Belleville tied the match at 1-1 with a 25-22 second set win. Lawrence Tech retook the lead in the third set with a 25-22 win before the Lynx tied it again after a 25-21 fourth set.

In the fifth set, Lindenwood-Belleville went up 5-2 before Lawrence Tech went on a 6-2 run to take an 8-6 lead. The Lynx had match point at 14-13, but an attack error on Lindenwood-Belleville kept the Blue Devils in the match. Lawrence Tech had five straight match points, last one at 20-19, but were unable to capitalize as the Lynx rattled off three straight points to win the match 22-20.

Doherty finished this game with 49 assist while Hunt had a team high 13 kills. Reum and Sadie Bronkema both finished with 11 kills. Reum also had a solo block and two block assists.

Doherty was named to the All-Tournament Team after her 199 assists over four matches.

Lawrence Tech is back on the court Wednesday, September 6 when they open conference play at Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne, Ind. First serve set for 7 p.m.
