ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's volleyball team won 3-1 at Concordia (Mich.) University - Ann Arbor on Saturday night.
Lawrence Tech (13-9, 4-3) lost the opening set 25-15, but came back to win the next three sets for their fourth conference win of the season. In the opening set, LTU finished with nine kills and eight errors. The Blue Devils led just once in the set before CUAA took control to take a 1-0 lead.
Concordia (3-18, 1-6) took a 1-0 lead in the second set, but a 7-1 run by Lawrence Tech saw the Blue Devils take a 7-2 lead. Briana Reum (SR/South Elgin, IL) had a pair of kills during that run as well as a block assist with Kristi Doherty (SO/Davison, Mich.). The Cardinals fought back with a 7-2 run of their own to tie the set at 9-9. The Blue Devils' Tori Pellerito (JR/Macomb, Mich.) served LTU to a 13-10 which included a service ace. Lawrence Tech built the lead to 19-13 before CUAA called a timeout to slow the LTU run.
The Blue Devils went on to win with a 5-0 run with Pellerito serving the set out.
In the third set, Lawrence Tech went back-and-forth with Concordia as the set was tied six times. LTU went on a 5-1 run to take control of the match at 19-15, closing the set out 25-20.
Lawrence Tech sealed the match with a set four win after taking a 5-0 lead to open the set. The Cardinals battled back to within two and three points on multiple occasions, but LTU was too strong holding on for the 25-18 win.
Isabella McDonald (FR/Farmington, Michigan) led the way for Lawrence Tech with a .448 hitting percentage with 15 kills on 29 total attacks. Reum added 15 kills while Zakia Hunt (SO/Livonia, Mich.) added 12 kills and five digs. Pellerito added 12 digs with a service ace.
Lawrence Tech is back on the court October 4 when they welcome UM-Dearborn on Pink Out and Family Night at the Ridler.
