LANSING, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's basketball team defeated Great Lakes Christian (Mich.) College 121-60 late Wednesday afternoon in Lansing, Mich.
Lawrence Tech (15-4, 7-3) took the lead early as they finished the first quarter with a 27-15 lead. The Blue Devils controlled the second quarter 20-12 for a 47-27 halftime lead. The Blue Devils kept the lead throughout the game and scored their 100th point well into the fourth quarter.
Six Blue Devils scored 10 or more points during the game. Nicole Buckingham (JR/Saginaw, Mich.) (JR/Saginaw, Mich.) led the way with 19 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Hayley Walkowski (SR/Marshall, MI) (SR/Marshall, MI), Kaitlyn Smith (SO/Holly, Mich.) (SO/Holly, Mich.), Teryn Kline (FR/Fort Wayne, IN) (FR/Fort Wayne, IN), and Alexis Ayala (SO/Durand, Mich.) (SO/Durand, Mich.) each scored 16 points while Hope Dollarhide (SO/Dorr, Mich.) (SO/Dorr, Mich.) added 11 points.
Julia James (FR/Oxford, Mich.) played six minutes off the bench and went 3-for-3 from the field for six points. Emily Langolf (FR/Macomb, Mich.) led the team with eight assists while scoring seven points. Danielle Hanson (SO/East Lansing, Mich.) had a team high 15 rebounds followed by Ayala with 13 rebounds.
Lawrence Tech is back at home this Saturday as they take on Madonna (Mich.) University at 1 p.m at the Don Ridler Fieldhouse.
