Game Preview: Lawrence Tech Faces WHAC opponent Siena Heights

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - After a difficult 2-1 loss to Indiana Institute of Technology, the Lawrence Technological University women's soccer team comes back home for the first time since October 6 to play Siena Heights University (Mich.) on Tuesday, October 16 where the game is set to start at 7 p.m.

Despite Sarah Trapp (SR/Plymouth, Mich.)'s final moments goal and a shutout in the second half by goalie Rebecca Almandoz (SO/Palmiste, San Fernando, Trinid), LTU moved to 5-7-2 overall this season and 2-4-1 in the WHAC. Looking onward to Siena Heights, who is currently 12-2 overall and 5-2 in the WHAC they will be a formidable opponents for the Blue Devils. They are led by Taylor Mulder with 35 points from 15 goals and five assists. Following her is Paige Rachuet with 20 points from seven goals and 6 assists. Three other saints have double digit points and eight others are on the board. In goal the time is split between Kara Bishop and Sophie Lentz.

This offensive team will need to be shut down by the Blue Devils key players on both ends of the field. In the defensive, Almandoz is averaging a 76.3% save percentage and has 61 saves. Defenders Laura Silverman (SO/Rochester Hills, Mich.), Jordan Messing (SR/Bruce Twp., Mich.) and Marie Anne Torres (SR/Mississauga, Ont., Canada) have been exceptional at keeping the ball out of their end, along with the speed of Madison Smith (JR/Bloomfield, Mich.) and Madison Bologna (FR/Macomb, Mich.), their performance tonight can really shape the game. On the offensive end, led by Lauren Wasiak (SO/Walled Lake, Mich.)'s 15 points from six goals and three assists and followed by Alayne Nyboer (JR/Grandville, Mich.)'s 13 points from four goals and five assists, the squad will need to put some goals up on the board to beat the Saints who only have two losses under their belt.

The team has only three games left after the one tonight, their next being again at home on October 20 where they will face Lourdes University (Ohio).
