SYLVANIA, Ohio -- The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's volleyball team fell at (RV) Lourdes (Ohio) University 3-0 (25-16, 27-25, 25-21) on Wednesday night in Sylvania, Ohio.

Lawrence Tech (17-9, 9-4) saw their five game conference win streak come to an end as they finished the match with a .167 hitting percentage as they committed 19 errors in the loss at Lourdes. The Blue Devils recorded 44 kills on 150 total attacks with Brittany Schmidt (SR/Richmond, MI) leading the way with 11 kills and a .200 hitting percentage. Zakia Hunt (JR/Livonia, Mich.) finished with a team high .357 hitting percentage with 7 kills on 14 attacks. Kristi Doherty (JR/Davison, Mich.) recorded 34 assists and 17 digs to go with four kills.

The Blue Devils led 3-1 early in set one, but Lourdes went on a 7-1 run to take an 8-4 lead before going up 15-10 on an ace. Lawrence Tech responded with a 5-0 run on Alysha Vipushan (FR/Tecumseh, Ontario)'s serve to tie the set at 15-15. A service error gave the Gray Wolves a 16-15 lead as Lourdes went up 19-15. They closed the set on a 6-0 run to take the set 25-16.

The second set went back-and-forth with the score tied seven times before Lawrence Tech went up 13-9. Lourdes tied the set at 14-14 as the two teams continued to trade points up to 20-20, that's when the Gray Wolves took at 23-21 lead. Lawrence Tech fought back to tie it at 24-24 and 25-25, but Lourdes closed the sets with two straight points to take the set 27-25.

Lourdes (16-2, 13-1) took a 6-3 lead in the third set off an attack error by Lawrence Tech. The Gray Wolves extended their lead to 17-13 before closing the set with two straight kills. Lourdes was led by Monique Oliveira and Emily Drenth with 14 kills each while Carol Goncalves recorded 39 assists and 16 digs.

Lawrence Tech returns to the court on Friday, Oct. 19 when they host Aquinas (Mich.) University at 7 p.m. inside Don Ridler Field House.
