Box Score ADRIAN, Mich.- The Lawrence Technological University (Mich.) (9-5-1 | 6-2-0 WHAC) men's soccer team defeated Siena Heights University (Mich.) (5-9-1 | 2-5-1 WHAC) 3-2 this evening. With this result, the Blue Devils tied the all-time series 4-4-0.
Both teams remained all square until the very last minute of the first half when Alvaro Merino (FR/Colmenar Viejo, Spain) scored the opener goal of the game to give the Blue Devils the 1-0 lead for the first half. Lawrence Tech outshot the Saints 19-12, with 10 in the first half and nine in the second.
In the 58th minute, Oriol Perez (FR/Barcelona, Spain) scored his first goal of the season to give LTU the 2-0 lead. The Blue Devils had five shots for the next 22 minutes, but it was in the 80th minute when Justin Gray of Siena Heights scored and put the score 2-1. Regardless of the received goal, the Blue Devils stayed centered on the game and struck once again two minutes later, when Santiago Amigo (SR/Madrid, Spain) found the back of the net after receiving an assist from Nicolas Rodriguez-Bermejo (JR/Madrid, Spain). Justin Gray struck for the second time in the 86th minute to set the final score of 3-2. The Blue Devils led the shots on frame 11-5. Goalkeeper Maxwell Jewett (JR/Sterling Heights, Mich.) had three saves throughout the game.
The Blue Devils' next game will be against Lourdes University (Ohio) at the LTU Athletic Field on Saturday, October 20 at 7:00 PM. Just before this game, Lawrence Tech will say farewell to seniors Santiago Amigo and Chris Serwatka (SR/Troy, Mich.).
