Box Score SOUTHFIELD, Mich.- The Lawrence Technological University (Mich.) (10-5-1 | 7-2-0 WHAC) men's soccer team defeated Lourdes University (Ohio) (2-11-1 | 1-7-1 WHAC) with a 2-1 score in the LTU Athletic Field. The Blue Devils honored Senior players Santiago Amigo(SR/Madrid, Spain) and Chris Serwatka (SR/Troy, Mich.) minutes before the start of the game.
The first half remained scoreless for the first 33 minutes. The Blue Devils were close to getting ahead in the scoreboard a few times during this time, the most remarkable was in the 14th minute when Nicolas Rodriguez-Bermejo (JR/Madrid, Spain) shot from outside the box and the ball was saved by goalkeeper Ali Chokr. The first goal of the match arrived in the 33rd minute when Nitram Senderos scored to give the Gray Wolves the 1-0 lead. The Blue Devils outshot Lourdes 10-3 in this half, two of these shots were on goal.
Lawrence Tech started the second half of the game with an aggressive strategy in search of the goal that would tie the game. Within the first five minutes, the Blue Devils had three corner kicks and two shots. It was in the 51st minute that the Blue Devils equalized the game when Chris Serwatka (SR/Troy, Mich.) scored from a penalty kick after Rodriguez-Bermejo received a foul inside the box. Serwatka struck for the second time in the 86thminute to score the winning goal for the Blue Devils after an assist from Rodriguez-Bermejo. With today's scored goals, Serwatka is the top Blue Devils scorer along with Kevin Wright (JR/Linden, Mich.) with eight goals each.
Lawrence Tech's defensive line had a solid game as they only allowed the Gray Wolves five shots throughout the 90-minute game.
The Blue Devils' next game will be against Cornerstone University (Mich.) at the LTU Athletic Field on Wednesday, October 24 at 7:00 PM. This will be the last home game of Lawrence Tech in the regular season.
