Box Score SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological University (Mich.) (11-6-1 | 8-3-0 WHAC) men's soccer team fell 3-2 to (17) University of Northwestern Ohio (13-3-2 | 10-1-0 WHAC) this afternoon in the last game of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference regular season. The Blue Devils started winning the game with a 2-0 score, but UNOH had a good comeback in the last 30 minutes of the second half to take the victory.
The first goal of the game arrived in the 10th minute when Nico Rodriguez-Bermejo(JR/Madrid, Spain) when he sent the ball to the back of the net after a rebound inside the box. This was Rodriguez-Bermejo's third goal of the season. In this half, the Blue Devils had three shots, two of which were on goal. The Racers had four shots, but the defensive line of the Blue Devils did not let them have any on goal.
Five minutes into the second half, Michael Avila (JR/Toronto, Ontario, Canada) was in charge of scoring the second goal of the game with a header to the left post after receiving an assist from Rodriguez-Bermejo to give LTU the 2-0 lead. This was Avila's fourth goal of the season and Rodriguez-Bermejo's ninth assist. Seven minutes later, Avila was close to amplifying the scoreboard in favor of the Blue Devils with a header that hit the post after a corner kick served by Chris Serwatka (SR/Troy, Mich.). Felipe Lupion of UNOH scored the first goal for the Racers in the 64th minute when serving a free kick. Lupion struck once again 13th minutes later when serving a penalty kick to tie the game 2-2. Mikhail Radchenko scored the winning goal for the Racers in the 84:56 mark to give them the final 3-2 lead.
The Blue Devils will be back on the turf on Saturday, November 3 at the LTU Athletic Field to host the first round of the WHAC playoffs. The game will start at noon and the opponent is yet TBD.
