Box Score SOUTHFIELD, Mich.- The Lawrence Technological University (Mich.) men's soccer team conquered their fourth victory in a row after defeating Cleary University (Mich.) 3-0 at the LTU Athletic Field this afternoon. With the result of this game, the record of the Blue Devils for the season so far is set at 7-4-1 overall and 4-1-0 for the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.
The Blue Devils struck for the first time just two minutes after the beginning of the game when Alvaro Garcia (JR/Mallorca, Spain) scored the opening goal, getting past goalkeeper Ruggero Verzillo. Alvaro Merino (FR, Colmenar Viejo, Madrid, Spain) was the player that assisted the goal. In the 28th minute, Kevin Wright (JR/Linden, Mich.) gave LTU the 2-0 lead when he stroke the ball to the back of the net after receiving an assist of Ryan Resendes(SO/Windsor, Ontario, Canada). The last goal of the match arrived just one second before the end of the first half when Resendes chipped the ball over the goalkeeper. Merino had the assist on this goal, his second for the match.
The Blue Devils outshot the Cougars 16-2, with nine shots in the first half and 7 in the second. LTU's defensive line played a very good game, as they only let the Cougars have one shot on goal throughout the 90-minute game.
The Blue Devils will be back in the LTU Athletic field on October 10 at 7:00 PM when they face Rochester College (Mich.).
