Weekly Preview: Lawrence Tech Travels to Madonna, Hosts UNOH in Home Opener

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Lawrence Technological University men's basketball team is on the road to begin the week before ending the week in the Don Ridler Field House for the first time this season. The Blue Devils travel to play Madonna University (Mich.) on Wednesday, November 14 where they are set to play at 7:30 in the first WHAC game of the season. They will then return to  Southfield to play host for their 2018-2019 home opener against the University of Northwestern Ohio on Saturday, November 17. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. against the Racers.

The Blue Devils are currently 2-3 this season with a recent win against Trinity Christian College (Ill.) and loss to Saint Xavier University (Ill.). Returner Ty Searles (SR/Pontiac, Mich.) has been stealing the show by garnering a career high 37 point game against the Trolls He has 28 rebounds and 104 total points this season, averaging 20.8 points per game. He currently ranks 49th in Division II NAIA for points per game. Behind Searles have been Devonte Myles (SR/Tampa, Fla.) and Jalen Bethel (FR/Columbus, Ohio), returning role players for the Blue Devils. Devonte Myleshas been putting up 14.6 points per game off the bench for LTU, totaling 73 points this season as well as grabbing 31 rebounds. On his tail is Jalen Bethel who has 70 points this season, including leading the team in rebounds at 39.

Madonna hosts LTU on Wednesday, November 13 in Livonia, Mich. The Saints have a 4-1 record, with their only loss coming against Bethel College (Ind.) where they were crushed 67-91.  They are led by Dwight Burton who has 106 points and average 21 points per game. On Saturday the 17th, the Blue Devils will welcome the 1-2 UNOH Racers for their home opener. Zach Montes has been the most valuable Racer averaging 17.8 points per game with a total of 89 on the year.
