SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- The (RV) Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's volleyball team fell at Cornerstone (Mich.) University 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-21) on Saturday afternoon in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Lawrence Tech (10-5, 4-2) get swept by the Golden Eagles as they hit just .105 percent from the floor and committed 16 errors with just 26 kills. Cornerstone finished the match with .333 hitting percentage and 49 kills on 105 total attacks.

Cornerstone (12-6, 4-2) jumped all over the Blue Devils early, taking a 6-1 lead before Lawrence Tech closed the lead to 12-10 on a block by Dacey Cook and Jess Lodge. The Golden Eagles went back up by five, 20-15 and closed the game out 25-15.

In set two, the Blue Devils trailed 7-3, but battled back to tie the game at 11-11 on a Cornerstone error. The Golden Eagles retook the lead at 20-15 and went on to to take the set 25-22. In set three, Lawrence Tech and Cornerstone played an even first half of the set as LTU held a 15-13 lead while being tied seven times. The Golden Eagles came back to take the lead at 16-15, but Lawrence Tech went back up 19-17 on a kill from Varvara Gromakova (JR/Moscow, Russia). Cornerstone battled back to take the set 25-21.

Gromakova led the team in kills with eight while Lodge added seven kills. Kristi Doherty (JR/Davison, Mich.) recorded 18 digs while Brittany Schmidt (SR/Richmond, MI) had 10 digs.

Lawrence Tech returns to the court on Wednesday, September 26 at No. 23 Madonna (Mich.) University. First serve is set for 7 p.m. in Livonia, Mich.
