Box Score DEARBORN, Mich.- The Lawrence Technological University (Mich.) men's soccer team defeated University of Michigan – Dearborn (Mich.) in their second Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference game with a score of 6-0. LTU also outshoot the Wolverines 22-6 with 12 shots in the first half and 10 in the second. The Blue Devils that scored were Nicolas Rodriguez-Bermejo (JR/Madrid, Spain), Kevin Wright (JR/Linden, Mich.), Chris Serwatka (SR/Troy, Mich.), Bryce Nicholson (SO/Jenison, Mich.), Alvaro Garcia(JR/Mallorca, Spain), and Jake Rajewski (JR/Midland, Mich.).
In the first minute of the first half, Goalkeeper Maxwell Jewett (JR/Sterling Heights, Mich.) had his first save of the match. Jewett had three saves in the 90-minute game, one in the first half and two in the second. The first goal of the match arrived in the eighth minute when Rodriguez-Bermejo sent the ball to the back of the net after receiving a cross from the end line by Sean Humphries (FR/Benoni, South Africa). Wright was in charge of amplifying the advantage for the Blue Devils when he scored on a rebound from 12 yards out in the 19th minute. The third goal of the game arrived in the 21st minute when Serwatka shot a penalty kick to give the Blue Devils a 3-0 lead; this was his fifth goal of the season. Three minutes later, Nicholson seized the opportunity to send the ball to the back of the net after receiving an assist from Rodriguez-Bermejo to set the scoreboard 4-0. Rodriguez-Bermejo and Humphries are the Blue Devils with the most assists so far this season, with three each. Garcia scored the last goal of the first half in the 28th minute to give LTU a 5-0 lead.
During the first 22 minutes of the second half, the Blue Devils tried to amplify the scoreboard with six shots and one corner kick. However, it was until the 77th minute that Rajewski scored the last goal of the game to give the Blue Devils the final lead of 6-0 with a breakaway chip over Goalkeeper Stephen Mezuk.
The Blue Devils will be back in action at an away game on September 29 against Concordia University – Ann Arbor (Mich.). The match is scheduled to start at 1:30 PM.
