(RV) Lawrence Tech Downs Concordia 2-0 to Earn Programs 51st Win

ANN ARBOR, Mich.- The Lawrence Technological University (Mich.) men's soccer team achieved their 51st win in program's history as they defeated Concordia University – Ann Arbor (Mich.) in their third Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference game with a score of 2-0. LTU also outshoot the Cardinals 11-7 with 10 shots in the first half and one in the second. The Blue Devils that scored were Bryce Nicholson (SO/Jenison, Mich.) and Kevin Wright(JR/Linden, Mich.).

The Blue Devils went out to the field looking for the win since minute one. Within the first four minutes of the first half, the Blue Devils had two corner kicks. It was in the fourth minute of the game that the first goal of the match arrived when Nicholson headed the ball off a corner kick served by Chris Serwatka (SR/Troy, Mich.). This was Nicholson's third goal of the season. The Blue Devils continued trying to amplify the scoreboard for the 20 minutes that followed with three shots and two corner kicks. In the 24th minute, Wright seized the opportunity to score when he shot the ball from 20 yards out after receiving an assist from Ryan Resendes (JR/Windsor, Ontario, Canada) to give LTU the final 2-0 lead. This was Wright's fifth goal of the season.

Goalkeeper Maxwell Jewett (JR/Sterling Heights, Mich.) had three saves throughout the 90-minute game, one in the first half and two in the second. The Cardinals tried scoring during the second half of the game with four shots and five corner kicks, but the Blue Devil defense stopped them in all their tries and kept the score 2-0.

Lawrence Tech asked Head Coach Will Dyer for his thoughts on the game. Here is what he had to say about the match:

"Great first half, [we] need to play that way for a full 90 [minute game]. [I am] very pleased we got the win and three points. Now we [will] get ready for a tough Aquinas team for our very first game under the lights".

The Blue Devils will be back in action on October 3 against Aquinas College (Mich.) at the LTU Athletic Field. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 PM.
