(RV) Blue Devils Cruise Past UM-Dearborn 3-0 on Wednesday Night; Move to 11-0 in WHAC Play

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Lawrence Technological University women's volleyball continues its blazing season as they pick up another three-set sweep, this time defeating the University of Michigan – Dearborn 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-11). The Blue Devils are now 20-2 on the season and an undefeated 11-0 in WHAC competition. Tonight's victory marks the 13th three-set sweep of the season and gives them a fourth straight victory.

The quick victory was thanks to the potent offense for Lawrence Tech, highlighted by Jessica Lodge and her game high nine kills and second place going to Isabella McDonald with six kills and a 2.250 attacking percentage. Defensively, the Blue Devils were guided by Nichole Hyduk and her 13 digs, while Shelby Rasch and Reinali Calisin ended the contest with nine each.

Lawrence Tech hit at a .253 clip during the contest, compared to -.019 for the University of Michigan – Dearborn. The Blue Devils were in double-digit kills in each set while the Wolverines did not record more than nine in any of the three sets. LTU held a 57-43 edge in digs while both teams recorded one solo block and six block assists during tonight's match.

The Blue Raiders jumped out to a fast start, leading 11-6 on the kill by Madine Hudson, but the Wolverines narrowed the gap to 15-14. Then, Lawrence Tech went on a 10-3 run which was completed by the kills from Varvara Gromakova, assisted by Kristi Doherty. The second set started a little tighter between the teams with the scoreboard reading 5-5 early in the set. But then things really started clicking and the Blue Devils scored 20 of the next 30 points to secure an easy victory in set two. With eyes on another sweep, the team built a 15-3 edge, scoring points on seven straight services by Doherty. The final two points of the night were scored on kills from Peyton Heady and Zakia Hunt.

Currently, the Blue Devils sit atop the WHAC conference standings with a two-game lead over second place Madonna with nine more conference tilts to go.

Lawrence Tch will now turn its attention on Concordia University as they will travel to Cardinal Fieldhouse on Friday, October 18th at 7:00 p.m.
