Top Seed Lawrence Tech Takes Down Siena Heights 3-0 in the WHAC Quarterfinals; Faces No. 5 Seed Indiana Tech on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The 20th-ranked Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's volleyball team defeated Siena Height (Mich.) University 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-12) in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Quarterfinals on Wednesday night in Southfield, Mich.

The Blue Devils now host the final four teams of the WHAC Tournament starting Friday, Nov. 15 at 5 p.m. Lawrence Tech will face fifth-seed Indiana Tech at 7:30 p.m. while seventh-seed Lourdes faces third-seed Madonna at 5 p.m. The WHAC Tournament Championship Game will be played on Saturday, November 16 at 1 p.m. inside Don Ridler Field House.

Lawrence Tech (30-2) has reached the thirty-win plateau for the first time in program history as they cruised into the conference tournament semifinals for the second straight season. The Blue Devils took the early lead on the Saints as they hit .449 in the first set. Lawrence Tech jumped out to a 4-1 lead on the Siena Heights before they cut it to two at 9-7. The Blue Devils went on a 16-6 run to take the set 25-13.

The Blue Devils got in to early trouble in the second set as the Saints took a 7-1 lead, but a 22-6 run to put Lawrence Tech up 23-13. Kristi Doherty and Zakia Hunt sealed the set win for Lawrence Tech with a pair of kills to put the Blue Devils in the lead 2-0 with a 25-14 set win.

Lawrence Tech continued to dominate play in the third set, taking a 10-4 lead on the Saints before extending it to 20-9 off the serves of Nichole Hyduk, Shelby Rasch, and Varvara Gromakova. Madeline Hudson and Jessica Lodge sealed the win for LTU with a pair of kills to end the set 25-12.

The Blue Devils were led by Zakia Hunt with 12 kills while Doherty hit .538 with seven kills and 35 assists. Madeline Hudson added seven kills and hit .700 on 10 total attacks without an error. Isabella McDonald added nine kills and hit .348 on 23 total attacks while Rasch recorded 17 digs. Hyduk finished with 18 digs and one ace.
