No 25 Lawrence Tech Defeats Holy Cross 60-52 Behind Danielle Hanson's Fifth Straight Double-Double

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The No. 25-ranked Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's basketball team defeated Holy Cross (Ind.) 60-52 behind Danielle Hanson's fifth straight double-double (23 points, 10 rebounds) of the season The win moves Lawrence Tech to 9-3 on the season as they moved into the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 poll earlier in the day at No. 25.

Lawrence Tech (9-3, 4-1) struggled to get their shot early as they trailed Holy Cross 9-4 at the 5:25 mark of the first quarter. However, a 12-4 run by the Blue Devils gave Lawrence Tech the 16-13 lead in the second quarter as Hanson capped the run off with two of her 17 first half points. The Blue Devils extended the lead to 27-19 before the Saints closed the half with a 6-2 run to make it a 29-25 game heading into halftime.

The Blue Devils extended the lead to 34-25 as the opened the third quarter. Holy Cross continued to battle on the court as they cut the lead to 36-30 with 7:47 on the clock. The Blue Devils once again responded outscoring the Saints 12-6 over the next six minutes to take a 48-36 lead. Holy Cross closed the gap in the final minutes to end the quarter down five, 48-43. Kendall Fisher led the Blue Devils in the half with seven points while Hanson added five rebounds including five defensive boards.

Lawrence Tech kept the Saints at bay in the final quarter as Holy Cross got cut the lead to 50-44 two and a half minutes into the quarter. The Blue Devils responded, going back up 10 at 56-46 before the Saints once again fought to within four, 56-52, with 3:35 remaining in the game. Lawrence Tech would not let them get any closer, as Kaitlyn Smith hit a layup to pus the lead to 58-52 followed by Rachel Price hitting a pair of free throws with 33 seconds left to seal the win for Lawrence Tech.

Hanson finished the game with 23 points and 10 rebounds followed by Fisher with 13 points, four steals, and a pair of assists. Smith added eight points while Teryn Kline recorded six points and five Rebounds. Price finished with nine rebounds to go with five points. Holy Cross was led by Kaelyn Barlow with 15 points and 12 rebounds followed by Jayda Miller with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Lawrence Tech is back on the court Saturday, December 14 when they host UM-Dearborn at Don Ridler Field House. Tip is set for 1 p.m.
