Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University men's volleyball team fell to No. 6-ranked Aquinas (Mich.) College 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-16) on Wednesday night in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Lawrence Tech (10-11, 2-4) finished the match with a .036 hitting percentage with 22 errors and 25 kills compared to a .235 hitting percentage and 33 kills by Aquinas. Joshua Eckert led the way for Lawrence Tech with nine kills while Zachary Narkiewicz finished with seven kills. Gospel Sua recorded 20 assists and five digs in the loss.
The Blue Devils and Aquinas were tied at 4-4 in the first set, but the Saints were able to build a 17-13 lead. Lawrence Tech cut the lead to 18-17, however Aquinas closed the set out 25-20. The Saints and Blue Devils battled it out in the second set with Lawrence Tech taking an early 9-7 lead. Aquinas responded, taking a 16-14 lead, but Lawrence Tech won four of the next five points to take an 18-17 lead. The Saints closed the set out with an 8-2 run to take the set 25-20.
Aquinas (18-0, 4-0) cruised in the final set as they jumped out to a 12-6 lead enroute to a 25-16 set three win to secure the 3-0 win.
The Blue Devils are back on the court Wednesday, March 6 when they host No. 2-ranked Lourdes (Ohio) University at 7 p.m.
