Box Score SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University men's volleyball team was swept by No. 6 Aquinas (Mich.) University 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-16) on Wednesday night in Southfield, Mich.
Lawrence Tech (8-7, 1-2) looked to avenge an earlier season loss to Aquinas, but the Saints were able to get the early lead in the opening set and never looked back. The Saints jumped out to a 6-1 lead en route to a 25-14 set win.
The Blue Devils fell in the second set after holding an early lead, 25-19. Lawrence Tech struggled from the floor, hitting .120 while committing seven errors. In contrast, the Saints hit .300 off 20 total attacks to earn the 2-0 lead in the match.
Lawrence Tech held another early lead in the third set, but a 7-0 run gave Aquinas an 11-7 lead. The Saints went followed that with a 10-5 run to go ahead 21-12 as they closed the set out 25-16.
The Blue Devils were led by Calvin Ooms with 10 kills while Gospel Sua recorded 21 assists. The Saints were led by Joshua Boothroyd with eight kills and a .353 hitting percentage.
Lawrence Tech is back on the court Friday, January 8 at 6 p.m. when they host Olivet (Mich.) College at the Don Ridler Field House.
