SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University men's volleyball team finished their spring trip with a perfect 5-0 record as they defeated Cincinnati Christian (Ohio) University 3-0, Milligan (Tenn.) College 3-0, Cumberland (Tenn.) Univeristy 3-0, Brewton-Parker (GA.) University 3-1, and Bluefield (Va.) University 3-0.

Lawrence Tech (15-12, 2-5) opened their trip in Ohio, taking down Cincinnati Christian 25-11, 25-19, and 25-18. The Blue Devils hit .267 with 19 kills and 11 errors with 30 total attacks. Calvin Ooms (FR/Amstelveen, Netherlands) led the way with six kills and a .200 hitting percentage in the sweep.

In game two of the trip, Lawrence Tech cruised past Milligan 25-11, 25-22, 25-19 and then defeated Cumberland 25-18, 25-22, 25-19 on March 10. Against Cumberland, the Blue Devils hit .318 with 42 kills and 14 errors off 88 total attacks. Ooms finished with 10 kills and a .350 hitting percentage followed by Zachary Narkiewicz (SO/Galloway, New Jersey) recorded 11 kills with a .304 hitting percentage. Joshua Eckert (JR/San Juan, Puerto Rico) had a team high 12 kills with a .381 hitting percentage. Lawrence Patton (SR/West Bloomfield, Mich.) recorded 35 assists in the win.

 In their fourth match of the trip, the Blue Devils dropped their first set of spring break to Brewton-Parker, 25-16, 23-25, 25-8, 25-19, in 3-1 win. Lawrence Tech hit .444 as a team with 48 kills and just eight errors. Ooms finished the match with 15 kills and a .522 hitting percentage followed by Eckert with 11 kills and a .526 hitting percentage. Narkiewicz added 10 kills and finished with a .269 hitting percentage.

In the final game of the week, Lawrence Tech took down Bluefield 25-20, 25-22, 25-17 with a .224 hitting percentage and 33 kills with 16 errors off 76 total attacks. Ooms led the way with 12 kills and a .647 hitting percentage, a Lawrence Tech single-game record for hitting percentage. Patton recorded 29 assists and two service aces.

The Blue Devils are back on the court Wednesday, March 20 when they host (RV) Siena Heights (Mich.) University at 7 p.m. inside Don Ridler Field House.
